Howdy folks,
Yeah. As the subject says, I use, did use, up until a few moments ago ftp explorer to put files to and from my web site. Well for some reason the bloody thing keeps crashing on me now, so my question unto the masses that know and do such things is, what ftp clients do you use? are they accessible? how much are they and where from? you know the usual questions. all suggestions, as long as they are clean and dont' involve me going forth and multiplying are welcome.
Well, I have been using CuteFTP Pro from GlobalScape quite successfully for some time now. It is available from www.CuteFTP.com. Not sure how much I paid for it, but it wasn't a ton. Basically, two windows. One for your remote machine and one for your local machine. You hit tab to move between them. Doesn't get much simpler than that. The only odd thing about the software is the connection manager. The way I have things configured, the connection manager comes up when I launch the program. The connection manager has a treeview of sites I have previously setup. The odd things is that before I can navigate this treeview with the arrow keys, I have to shift tab a couple of times and then tab forward back to the treeview. If I don't do this, I can't move through the treeview, at least according to my screen reader. Its an odd little qwerk, but once you get used to that, the program works great.
Hope this info helps.

Hi Jim,
That's awesome, thank you so much for that. I'd heard of cute ftp but not used it. I'll definitely give that a look though, and see what it's all about. Thanks again.
Simon
I personally use Filezilla client, small, uses only 3 mb ram, and jaws friendly with no scripts, the version I use is an older version, which is still available, but not that easy to find, I've got a copy, if you want to try it out, it is free and open source and available for not just Windows, hth.
I use to use f t p explorer but I think for security reasons my site's survice changed the port.
Anyway, I personally never had it crash on me.
cheers symbol, i've already downloaded and bought cute ftp though. it's exactly what i need. data, you said that you had trouble navigating in the online list, unless you tabbed away and back again? could it be because of the tip of the day? i closed that, and it seems to work ok. i'll try it again in a bit to see for certain, but if you use jaws, it may be worth looking around, with the jaws cursor, once connected, for that checkbox that says don't display the tip of the day thing, and then close it.
cheers,
Simon
